Privacy Policy
Your information, in plain English.
Last updated: 2026-07-11
BriefLead helps home-improvement contractors collect and respond to project inquiries. This policy explains what information we handle, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It covers two groups of people:
- Contractors— the businesses that sign up for BriefLead and create an intake form.
- Homeowners— the people who submit a project inquiry through a contractor’s BriefLead form. If that’s you: you submitted your details to a specific contractor, and BriefLead is the tool that contractor uses to receive and organize your inquiry.
Information we handle
From contractors:your name, email, and the company details you enter (company name, service area / ZIP codes, project types). We use passwordless “magic link” sign-in, so we store your email and sign-in session records, not a password.
From homeowners:the fields a contractor’s form asks for — typically your name, email, phone, project location (address and/or ZIP), and project details (type of work, description, budget range, timeline, and how you prefer to be contacted).
Automatically:basic technical and usage data (IP address, browser/device type, and actions within the service) to run and secure the service. When you submit a public form, a bot-protection check (Cloudflare Turnstile) processes a token and your IP address to confirm you’re not an automated bot.
We don’t intentionally collect sensitive information. Our forms aren’t designed to collect government IDs, financial-account numbers, or health data, and we automatically reject submissions that look like they contain a Social Security or payment-card number. Please don’t put sensitive information into a project inquiry. BriefLead is a tool for businesses and isn’t directed to anyone under 18.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the service— receive a homeowner’s inquiry, generate an AI summary, suggested reply, and priority indicator for the contractor, send notifications, and let the contractor view and manage their inquiries.
- Keep the service secure— detect and prevent spam, abuse, and fraud.
- Communicate with you and comply with law.
We use a homeowner’s inquiry only to provide the service to the contractor who collected it. We don’t use it to build or improve separate products, and we don’t sell it or share it for advertising.
AI processing of inquiries
To create the brief, a contractor’s incoming inquiry is processed by a third-party AI provider — today, Anthropic’s Claude models, accessed through the Vercel AI Gateway. We don’t permit this inquiry data to be used to train the provider’s AI models.
When we share information
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with the service providers who help us run BriefLead, each bound to use it only to provide their service to us:
- Vercel — application hosting (US)
- Neon — Postgres database (US)
- Vercel AI Gateway + Anthropic— generate the AI brief (US)
- Resend — transactional email delivery (US)
- Cloudflare— bot-protection on public forms (US)
- Calendly— scheduling, if you book a call with us (US)
- Airtable— lead tracker, for our “Concierge” (done-for-you) customers only (US)
We may also disclose information if required by law, or as part of a business transfer (merger or acquisition), in which case we’ll require the recipient to honor this policy.
Homeowners:the contractor you submitted your inquiry to receives it and keeps their own copy. Their use of your information is governed by their own practices; deleting your data from BriefLead doesn’t delete the copy the contractor holds — contact the contractor directly for that.
How long we keep information
We keep contractor account data while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and security obligations. We keep homeowner inquiry data while the contractor’s account is active; when a contractor closes their account, we delete the associated inquiries within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes. We may keep de-identified or aggregated data (which can’t reasonably identify you) for analytics.
Security
We protect information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including access controls, passwordless authentication, rate-limiting and bot-protection on public forms, and encryption in transit (HTTPS). Our hosting and database providers encrypt stored data at rest at the platform level. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Email jeremy@brieflead.pro at any time to know or access the personal information we hold about you, delete it, correct it, or opt out of any sale or sharing (we don’t sell or share your information for advertising, so there’s nothing to opt out of). We respond within the time the law requires — for California residents, within 45 days. To protect you, we verify your identity before acting on a request; for a homeowner with no account, that means confirming control of the email or phone number used in the inquiry. There’s no charge, and we won’t discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Global Privacy Control:if your browser sends a GPC “do not sell/share” signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request. California “Shine the Light”: California residents may request information about disclosures for third-party direct marketing — we don’t make such disclosures.
Cookies and analytics
We use only strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and secure, plus privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate usage. Our email notifications may include a standard open-tracking pixel so we know whether an email was delivered and opened. We don’t use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
US-only service
BriefLead is intended for contractors and their customers in the United States. We don’t target the service to, or knowingly onboard, users in the EU or UK. If that changes, we’ll update this policy.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the product evolves; for material changes we’ll update the date above and notify account holders by email. Questions or requests: jeremy@brieflead.pro. See also our Terms & Refund Policy.
